What Is a Cleanroom Sandwich Panel?

A cleanroom sandwich panel is a composite board made of two facing sheets bonded to a functional core. It delivers flame retardancy, sound insulation and environmental protection, and is engineered so the finished wall or ceiling has no dust accumulation and no dust generation. The surface enhances antistatic performance and resists corrosion, meeting the demands of pharmaceutical, electronics, food and healthcare environments. Panels install into a flush, gap-free, easy-to-disinfect surface and integrate directly with our cleanroom ceiling system and doors & windows.

Core Materials in Detail

Rock wool cleanroom sandwich panel core
Made from basalt, rock wool is a heat-insulating, flame-insulating and sound-absorbing core for walls and ceilings with fire-resistance requirements — the standard choice in electronics and pharmaceutical plants. Our metal-faced rock wool partition has passed national fire-resistance type testing to GB/T 9978 at an MA / CNAS / iLac-MRA-accredited centre (report available on request).
Glass magnesium MGO rock wool cleanroom panel
Glass-magnesium board offers high-temperature resistance, flame retardancy and sound absorption. It is waterproof, moisture-proof, non-toxic and high-strength, and combines with rock wool to make a composite panel ideal for high-humidity and fire-safe areas.
PIR PU cleanroom sandwich panel core
Polyurethane (PU) gives excellent insulation at low density. PIR is an upgraded PU containing an isocyanurate ring — its biggest advantage is superior flame-retardant performance and temperature resistance, making it the safer choice for high-standard cleanroom and cold-room projects.
Aluminum honeycomb cleanroom panel core
The aluminum hexagonal honeycomb core combines low density with high rigidity, giving the highest rigidity-to-weight ratio and excellent flatness. It is widely used for cleanroom partitions and ceilings where the surface must stay perfectly flat and safe for walk-on maintenance.
HPL cleanroom sandwich panel surface
HPL (high-pressure laminate) is 4 mm thick and built from more than 40 layers of paper impregnated with melamine and phenolic resin. It offers fire resistance, thermal insulation, corrosion and impact resistance, a smooth decorative surface and a wide range of colors — ideal for medical and laboratory wall surfaces. Technical Insights & FAQ

Which core should I choose for strict fire requirements?

Rock wool and MGO + rock wool are non-combustible and best for strict fire codes. Our metal-faced rock wool partition has passed GB/T 9978 fire-resistance type testing at an accredited national centre — the report is available on request.

How do I choose between PU and PIR panels?

Both give excellent insulation at low density. PIR is an upgraded PU with superior flame retardancy and better temperature resistance, making it the safer option for high-standard pharmaceutical and cold-room projects.

Can these panels handle high-humidity environments?

Yes. The MGO + rock wool (glass-magnesium) and HPL panels are moisture-proof and resist warping or mould, making them well suited to humid cleanroom conditions.

Why is aluminum honeycomb used for large-span ceilings?

Its hexagonal structure gives the highest rigidity-to-weight ratio, so the ceiling stays perfectly flat and can safely be walked on during maintenance and inspection.

How do the panels join, and are they airtight and antistatic?

Panels connect with a tongue-and-groove / cam-lock joint to form a flush, airtight, gap-free wall with no dust accumulation. Surfaces are corrosion-resistant and can enhance antistatic performance.

What sizes and facings are available?

Thickness, width and length are made to order. Facings include pre-coated or galvanized steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or 4 mm HPL in multiple colors. Send us your specification and we confirm the data sheet before production.
