What Is a PIR Cleanroom Panel?
A PIR cleanroom panel bonds color-coated steel facings to rigid polyisocyanurate foam. PIR retains strong insulation while forming a stable char under fire, reducing flame spread and smoke for a Class B1 rating.
Choose PIR for cold rooms and controlled-temperature suites needing high insulation plus B1 fire performance. Use rock wool or MgO rock wool where A-grade non-combustibility is mandatory.
Part of Wonclean's cleanroom sandwich panel family, the PIR panel pairs with matching ceiling systems and cleanroom doors and windows for a fully sealed, flush cleanroom wall system.

PIR vs PU — What's the Difference?
| Feature | PIR (this panel) | PU |
|---|---|---|
| Fire class | B1 (improved) | B1 / B2 |
| Behaviour in fire | Forms stable char, low smoke | Softens / melts sooner |
| Thermal insulation | Excellent (λ ≈ 0.022) | Best (λ ≈ 0.022) |
| Best for | Insulation + fire requirement | Lowest cost insulation — see PU panel |

Expert FAQ on PIR Cleanroom Panels
What is the difference between PIR and PU?
Both insulate well, but PIR forms a stable char and carries Class B1, making it the stronger choice where fire classification matters.
What fire rating does PIR achieve?
PIR reaches Class B1 with third-party reports available. Use rock wool or MgO where A-grade is required.
How good is the thermal insulation?
At λ around 0.022–0.023 W/(m·K), PIR achieves strong insulation at lower thickness and reduces cooling demand.
Does it control condensation in cold rooms?
Yes. Closed-cell PIR and sealed joints provide a continuous vapour barrier for condensation control.
Which facing, color and flatness can I expect?
Pre-painted or stainless steel facings are available in matched RAL or custom colors, targeting ≤ 2 mm/2 m flatness.
What are the lead time and minimum order?
Typical lead time is 10–15 days for samples or small orders and 20–25 days for a full container, subject to specification.
