What Is a Silica Rock Cleanroom Panel?
A silica rock cleanroom panel uses a pressed silica, magnesium oxysulfate and inorganic-binder core between coated-steel facings. The rigid mineral construction combines non-combustibility, moisture resistance and strength for cleanroom walls and ceilings.
With water absorption ≤ 5%, the core resists swelling and softening in humid or wash-down areas. Its hardness also handles impact; choose rock wool when thermal or acoustic insulation leads.
Part of Wonclean's cleanroom sandwich panel family, the silica rock panel pairs with matching ceiling systems and cleanroom doors and windows for a fully sealed, flush cleanroom wall system.

Silica Rock vs Rock Wool Core
| Feature | Silica Rock (this panel) | Rock Wool |
|---|---|---|
| Fire rating | A-grade non-combustible | A-grade non-combustible |
| Moisture resistance | Excellent — absorption ≤ 5% | Lower; can absorb moisture |
| Hardness / strength | Hard, rigid, impact-resistant | Softer fibrous core |
| Thermal / acoustic | Good (λ ≈ 0.05) | Better insulation (λ ≈ 0.04) |
| Best for | Damp/high-strength fireproof walls | Insulation & acoustics — see rock wool |

Expert FAQ on Silica Rock Cleanroom Panels
What is the silica rock core made of?
The pressed inorganic silica core is non-combustible, dimensionally stable, hard and moisture-resistant.
What is the fire rating, and can you supply certificates?
The A-grade core offers about 0.8–1.2 hours of fire resistance by thickness, with third-party reports available.
How is silica rock different from a rock wool panel?
Both are A-grade non-combustible, but the silica rock core absorbs almost no water (≤ 5%) and is much harder and more rigid, so it performs better in damp, wash-down or impact-prone areas. Rock wool offers better thermal and acoustic insulation, so the right choice depends on whether moisture/strength or insulation leads your requirement — see the rock wool panel.
Is it suitable for humid or wash-down cleanrooms?
Yes. ≤ 5% water absorption helps the core retain strength in humid and frequently washed areas.
Which thickness, facing and color are available?
Standard thicknesses are 50/75/100/150 mm, with pre-painted or stainless steel facings in matched RAL or custom colors.
What are the lead time and minimum order?
Typical lead time is 10–15 days for samples or small orders and 20–25 days for a full container, subject to specification.
